PNP downplays confrontation between HPG and customs officers in Bulacan

MANILA — The Philippine National Police dismissed concerns about institutional friction following a confrontation between Highway Patrol Group operatives and Bureau of Customs personnel during a joint operation in Bulacan. Speaking at a press briefing at Camp Crame on Wednesday, PNP Public Information Officer Col. Allen Rae Co stated that the incident should not be construed as indicative of systemic coordination problems between the two organizations. Co indicated that PNP leadership, including the agency's chief, Gen. Jose, had reviewed the matter and concluded it represented an anomalous occurrence rather than evidence of deeper interagency discord.
