PNP hospital stands ready for Romualdez transfer if court approves

The Philippine National Police assured Monday that its hospital facility is ready to accommodate former House Speaker Martin Romualdez if the Sandiganbayan grants approval for his transfer to the police compound.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the police force stands prepared to implement any court-ordered relocation while adhering to established security and custodial procedures. "The PNP will await Sandiganbayan's action on the proposed transfer and maintain the required security and custodial arrangements," Nartatez stated.

The confirmation comes as Romualdez remains subject to legal proceedings before the anti-graft court. The timing of any potential transfer depends entirely on judicial approval, with the PNP pledging readiness to execute the decision once formalized.

Camp Crame, the national police headquarters located in Quezon City, houses medical and detention facilities regularly used for high-profile cases requiring enhanced security measures. The PNP's statement underscores its preparedness to manage the logistics of the transfer should the court move forward with the proposal.
