PNP intensifies crackdown on electricity theft across Philippines

MANILA — The Philippine National Police announced Friday it is escalating operations against the theft and illegal tapping of electricity distribution infrastructure, citing the need for stronger investigative work and closer coordination with power companies nationwide.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. outlined the intensified campaign in a statement, emphasizing that the organization is committed to building more robust cases against perpetrators while establishing deeper collaborative ties with major electricity distributors.

Electricity theft remains a persistent problem in the Philippines, resulting in significant revenue losses for utility companies and creating safety hazards for both infrastructure and the public.
