PNP investigates two senior BFP officers over alleged slot-selling scheme

MANILA — The Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP–CIDG) has launched a probe into two senior Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officers suspected of soliciting bribes from applicants seeking positions within the agency.
CIDG Central Luzon chief Col. Grant Gollod announced the investigation during a press briefing at Camp Crame on Wednesday, revealing that the officers allegedly requested payments to guarantee successful placement in the fire service ranks.
The scheme represents a serious breach of civil service standards and recruitment protocols. Authorities did not immediately disclose the identities of the officers under investigation or the specific amounts allegedly demanded from applicants.
The CIDG has been tasked with gathering evidence and witness statements to substantiate the allegations. Officials said the investigation would determine the extent of the alleged misconduct and whether additional personnel were involved in the scheme.
