MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its road safety initiatives as the country braces for increased travel during the Undas season. PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. has directed police commanders across all regions and municipalities to prioritize accident prevention measures and coordinate efforts to manage traffic flow during the busy holiday period.
The enhanced operations form part of a comprehensive strategy combining enforcement and public information campaigns. Police units have been instructed to maintain heightened presence on major highways and thoroughfares where holiday travelers are expected to concentrate, with particular focus on accident-prone areas and intersections.
The initiative includes an information drive designed to raise public awareness about road safety practices during the Undas travel season. Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and avoid reckless driving as families undertake journeys to cemeteries and provincial destinations.
The PNP's multi-pronged approach seeks to balance traffic management with safety enforcement, ensuring that travelers can reach their destinations without incident and return home safely. The operations are expected to continue throughout the peak Undas period.
