PNP ramps up police presence as year-end holiday season approaches

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has directed regional and city police offices to strengthen their presence in high-traffic areas as the Philippines enters the festive 'ber' months, traditionally the busiest shopping and travel period of the year.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. issued orders for increased police visibility, patrols and monitoring operations in commercial establishments, transport terminals and other venues expected to experience surging foot traffic during the season.
The directive reflects the PNP's commitment to maintaining public order and preventing criminal activities in areas where crowds tend to gather during the year-end holiday rush. Police units have been tasked with stepping up their presence to deter crimes such as theft, robbery and other offenses that typically increase during peak shopping seasons.
The intensified operations are expected to extend through the holiday period, covering major shopping districts, airports, bus terminals, and other transit points frequented by holiday travelers and shoppers throughout the archipelago.
