The Philippine National Police (PNP) documented a concerning surge in school-based incidents involving minors over a nine-week period, with authorities recording at least 50 cases from June 16 to August 19.
According to data released by the PNP Public Information Office, the incidents comprised 26 reported bomb threats, 12 alleged shooting threats, and four stabbing cases. The figures underscore growing security challenges in educational settings across the country, where children in conflict with the law have been involved in various threatening and violent incidents.
School administrators and law enforcement officials have expressed concern over the frequency of such incidents, which have disrupted normal classroom operations and raised safety concerns among students and parents. The PNP has not disclosed specific information regarding the locations of the incidents or the circumstances surrounding individual cases.
Authorities continue to investigate the reported incidents as they work to enhance security measures in schools and address the underlying factors contributing to youth involvement in threatening behavior and violence on campuses.
