MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday returned the warrant of arrest for plunder charges against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez to the Sandiganbayan Third Division, the anti-graft court handling the case.
Romualdez did not appear before the court during the proceedings, remaining confined at Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center in San Juan City where he is currently under arrest.
The return of the warrant marks a procedural development in the case against Romualdez, who faces plunder allegations. His continued hospitalization has prevented his physical presence at court hearings as the legal proceedings advance.
The Sandiganbayan Third Division now holds the warrant as it continues its review of the case against the former House Speaker.
