MANILA — The Philippine National Police maintained its resolve Friday to proceed with the arrest of Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa after his one-week ultimatum lapsed on October 30.
Lt. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez, deputy chief of the PNP, declared that the police force would not shirk its responsibilities in the matter. "Let me declare, hindi tayo uurong sa ating tungkulin," Lopez stated, signaling the organization's determination to pursue appropriate enforcement measures.
The deadline had been set for the senator to respond to the PNP's demands, but the expiration of that period did not deter police leadership from their stated course of action. Officials indicated they remained prepared to execute arrest procedures as warranted.
The development marks an escalation in the dispute between the PNP and the senator, reflecting ongoing tensions between the two parties. The case has drawn public attention as it involves a high-ranking government official and the country's primary law enforcement agency.
