Police in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, have arrested Shivanjay Rajput, a suspect wanted in connection with an illegal liquor case that had resulted in a tragedy in the region. Rajput was among the most-wanted accused in the matter, with authorities offering a reward of 30,000 rupees for his capture.
The arrest came following an encounter operation involving local law enforcement. During the operation, the suspect allegedly opened fire at police personnel, prompting officers to return fire in self-defense. Rajput sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the exchange, according to police accounts.
Following the incident, the injured suspect was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police have since taken Rajput into custody as investigations into the illegal liquor case continue. The case had previously drawn significant attention due to the fatalities associated with the consumption of the illicit alcohol.
