Police arrest 32 in Gulshan as banned Awami League holds flash rally
Law enforcement detained 32 individuals during an unauthorised procession in Dhaka's upscale Gulshan neighbourhood on Monday, as members of the banned Awami League took to the streets in a show of defiance.

Police moved swiftly to disperse the gathering in Gulshan, a residential and commercial hub in central Dhaka, after participants assembled for what witnesses described as a spontaneous march. The procession occurred despite ongoing restrictions on the Awami League's organisational activities following political upheaval in the country.
The arrests were made as law enforcement sought to prevent the assembly from gaining momentum or drawing larger crowds in the densely populated area. Authorities have maintained a vigilant stance against any public demonstrations by the banned party as part of broader efforts to maintain order during the current transitional period.
The flash procession represents one of several incidents involving restricted political organisations attempting to mobilise supporters in recent weeks. Officials have warned that such unauthorised gatherings breach current regulations governing public assembly and political activity in Dhaka and other major cities.
The detained individuals have been taken into custody for questioning. Authorities have not disclosed specific charges, though they indicated the arrests were made in connection with violations of public order regulations.
