Police arrest 8, recover 116 firearms in Soccsksargen crackdown

Police in Soccsksargen, also known as Region 12, concluded a comprehensive campaign against illegal firearms this week, with officers conducting 109 operations that yielded significant results. The coordinated law enforcement push, which ran from October 26 through November 1, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the recovery or voluntary surrender of 116 firearms, according to Brigadier General Alan Manibog of the Police Regional Office (PRO-12).

The multi-day operation represents part of ongoing efforts by regional authorities to combat the proliferation of unregistered and loose weapons across the four provinces of Soccsksargen—South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani. The campaign focused on removing illegal firearms from circulation and disrupting networks involved in weapons trafficking and unauthorized possession.

Regional police authorities have not released further details regarding the specific charges against those arrested or the circumstances surrounding the firearms recovery operations. The enforcement drive underscores the police's commitment to strengthening public security in the region through targeted anti-firearms initiatives.
