Police in Puttaparthi have made an arrest in connection with the theft of ₹17,45,450 from a college in the area, according to the Superintendent of Police. The incident unfolded on the night of July 23, when the alleged gang targeted the accounts section of the educational institution.

Investigators say the suspects gained entry to the college building through the rear side before breaking into an almirah in the accounts section. The gang subsequently made off with the substantial sum of cash.

The theft was reported to police, triggering an investigation that culminated in the arrest of one of the suspected gang members. Officers are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the alleged three-person group involved in the burglary.

The case highlights security concerns at educational institutions across the region, with police reviewing the circumstances that allowed the unauthorized entry and subsequent theft to occur.
