Police arrest suspect in shooting of Cotabato City village chief

COTABATO CITY — Police arrested a suspect identified as alias "Fahd" in connection with the shooting of a village chairperson in this city, according to a statement from Cotabato City Police Director Colonel Jibin Bongcayao released Monday.
The suspect was taken into custody Friday in relation to an armed motorcycle carnapping incident that occurred in Barangay Tamontaka Mother at approximately 6 p.m. Police say the alleged offender was part of an armed group responsible for the vehicle theft.
During the carjacking, the village official was shot and wounded. Details regarding the extent of the injuries and the victim's identity were not immediately disclosed by authorities.
The arrest represents progress in the investigation into the incident. Police continue to pursue other members of the armed group allegedly involved in the motorcycle theft and shooting.
