Police arrest three in Kashmir livestock theft, recover 193 animals

Police in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested three individuals in connection with the theft of 193 livestock animals from grazing fields in the region. The suspects were apprehended following a complaint filed by local herders regarding the missing animals from communal pastures.

According to police, the accused had made off with a substantial number of sheep and goats, prompting a swift investigation by district law enforcement. The nature and scale of the theft highlighted concerns over livestock security in the pastoral areas of the valley.

In a successful recovery operation, police managed to locate and retrieve all 193 animals that had been stolen. The recovered livestock have been returned to their rightful owners, officials said. The investigation revealed the suspects' involvement in the coordinated theft from grazing lands in the district.

The arrests come as authorities continue to focus on securing rural assets and protecting the livelihoods of shepherds and farmers across the region. Police have registered a case against the three accused and further investigations are underway.
