Law enforcement authorities have arrested two associates of 'Alto Dharme', a known organised criminal reportedly directing drug trafficking activities in Sri Lanka from an overseas location. The arrests form part of ongoing police operations targeting large-scale narcotics distribution networks operating within the country.
During the operation, police recovered heroin with an estimated street value of Rs. 600,000. The seizure represents a significant disruption to local drug supply chains, according to law enforcement officials.
The two suspects are scheduled to appear before the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court for further legal proceedings. Police investigations into the broader network coordinated by 'Alto Dharme' are continuing as authorities work to dismantle the trafficking operation.
The arrests underscore law enforcement's intensified efforts to combat transnational drug smuggling networks affecting Sri Lanka, with particular focus on criminal organisations directing operations remotely from outside the island's borders.
