Police in the Ampang district conducted a high-speed chase on October 5 after identifying a Subaru with suspicious documentation. The pursuit commenced in the Bukit Antarabangsa area and continued through several neighbourhoods before concluding in Batu Caves, where officers successfully apprehended the two occupants.

The arrested individuals, both Malaysian nationals in their 30s, are currently assisting police with their investigation into vehicle cloning operations. Preliminary investigations suggest the Subaru was operating under fraudulent registration details, a common tactic used in organised vehicle theft and fraud schemes across the region.

Vehicle cloning—where criminals duplicate legitimate registration plates and vehicle identification numbers—represents a growing challenge for law enforcement in Malaysia. The practice enables criminals to obscure the true ownership and history of vehicles, often facilitating money laundering or the movement of stolen automobiles across state lines.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the suspects' backgrounds or the intended use of the vehicle. The case has been classified as vehicle fraud, with ongoing investigations expected to determine whether additional charges will be filed. Police have urged the public to report suspicious vehicle activities to local authorities.
