Police bust 11-member gang plotting highway robbery in Andhra Pradesh
Acting on intelligence about suspicious movement of armed individuals, police in Hindupur have arrested 11 gang members planning coordinated highway attacks. Authorities recovered weapons, vehicles, and a substantial amount of cash from the accused.

Law enforcement agencies in Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh, have dismantled a criminal gang accused of planning organized highway robberies following a tip-off about movement of armed persons in the area. Special police teams conducted coordinated operations that led to the arrest of all 11 members of the gang.
During the arrests, police seized two sport utility vehicles allegedly intended for use in the planned attacks. The recovery also included six hunting knives, stones, and 20 empty soft drink bottles that investigators say were being readied as weapons for the assault. Additionally, officers recovered ₹8.5 lakh in cash found with the accused.
Police have launched further investigations to determine if the gang was responsible for other criminal activities in the region. Authorities indicated that the sophisticated nature of the preparations—including the collection of makeshift weapons and the acquisition of vehicles—suggested the group had been planning the operations for some time. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are being held for questioning.
