Police in Penang have launched a major crackdown on an international telephone scam network, raiding 14 call centres and arresting 14 suspects in connection with the operation. Penang Police Chief Dennis Lim Kwang Keng confirmed the coordinated enforcement action targeted a criminal syndicate engaged in cross-border fraud activities. The investigation revealed the organised group had been systematically defrauding victims across five countries and regions, demonstrating the scale and sophistication of the operation. The suspects are currently assisting police with inquiries into the scope of the fraud scheme and the identities of additional individuals who may have been involved in the network. Authorities said further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of financial losses suffered by victims and to identify additional targets of the scam network.
