Police conducted coordinated raids in the Bukit Mertajam area on November 5, resulting in the arrest of seven foreign nationals suspected of involvement in drug distribution activities. Officers seized a substantial quantity of methylenedioxy methamphetamine (MDMA) and other controlled substances with an estimated street value of RM1.08 million.
The operation targeted multiple locations across the industrial town, with law enforcement personnel executing search warrants at various premises believed to be distribution points for illicit drugs. The seizure marks one of the larger drug hauls reported in the region in recent months.
All seven suspects are currently in police custody pending investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act. Authorities have indicated that further arrests may follow as the investigation expands. The case underscores ongoing concerns about foreign nationals' involvement in drug trafficking networks operating throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
The Penang Police Narcotics Division has urged the public to provide information on suspected drug activities. Anyone with relevant intelligence is encouraged to contact the nearest police station or the dedicated narcotics hotline.
