Police charge two in Pune student's death; allege premeditated murder plot

Police in Pune have filed a 5,053-page chargesheet in the death of a local youth, charging two individuals with murder and criminal conspiracy. According to the investigation, the accused orchestrated a deliberate plan to harm the victim over multiple attempts.

Investigators allege that the first attempt on the victim's life occurred on June 14. Four days later, on June 18, the accused allegedly used a fraudulent Instagram account to lure the victim to Lohagarh, a secluded area outside the city. Police claim that at this location, the two accused physically assaulted the victim, resulting in fatal injuries.

The chargesheet, which runs into thousands of pages, outlines forensic evidence, digital records, and investigative findings that form the basis of the charges. The case has drawn significant attention in Pune, highlighting concerns about social media being misused to facilitate violent crimes.

The accused remain in custody pending further legal proceedings. The case is expected to move to trial following the filing of the formal charges.
