KUALA LUMPUR — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has moved to correct misinformation regarding the identity of a suspect arrested in a significant drug trafficking case in Tanjung Balai, refuting reports that suggested a Malaysian national was involved.
In a statement from Bukit Aman, the police headquarters, authorities confirmed that the individual held in connection with the seizure of approximately 4 kilogrammes of methamphetamine is an Indonesian national, not a Malaysian as claimed in recent social media posts and media reports.
The clarification comes as false information continues to circulate across various platforms, potentially causing public confusion regarding the suspect's nationality and the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Police urged members of the public to verify information through official channels before sharing reports on social media, emphasising the importance of accuracy in reporting matters of law enforcement significance. The PDRM reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and maintaining public safety in the region.
