Police crack down on illegal mining in Uttar Pradesh, seize 34 machines

Police and mining department officials in Bijnor district have launched a crackdown on illegal mining operations in the Badhapur area near the Kho river, taking action against 34 dumpers and excavation machines involved in unauthorised extraction activities. The coordinated enforcement drive, led by Superintendent of Police KK Bishnoi, resulted in the seizure of eight vehicles and the issuance of challans against 26 additional dumpers operating in violation of mining regulations. The operation underscores growing concerns over unregulated mineral extraction in the region, which has raised environmental and safety issues. Authorities have signalled their commitment to strengthening oversight of mining activities in the district. Officials said the action was part of a broader effort to prevent unauthorised quarrying operations that flout environmental and statutory norms governing mineral extraction in the state.
