KUALA LUMPUR — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has taken delivery of 375 All Terrain Tactical Assault E-Bikes (ATE-Bikes) as part of efforts to modernize border security operations. The fleet, worth RM8 million, represents a significant upgrade to the force's mobile patrol infrastructure.
The electric-powered bicycles are engineered to operate in difficult geographical areas where traditional vehicles may be impractical or ineffective. Their quiet operation provides tactical advantages for border enforcement, surveillance and rapid response missions while reducing environmental impact compared to fuel-powered alternatives.
Officials indicated the new transport capability will enhance police mobility and operational efficiency across regional borders. The ATE-Bikes can traverse varied terrain including forested areas, mountainous regions and coastal zones that form Malaysia's international boundaries.
The acquisition reflects the PDRM's commitment to adopting modern technology for law enforcement operations. The bikes are expected to complement existing patrol vehicles and personnel deployment strategies in securing the nation's extensive border areas.
The force has not disclosed specific deployment timelines, though the rollout is expected to occur progressively across multiple regional commands responsible for border security.
