Police Deploy 7,000 Officers to Monitor Transport Strike in Metro Manila
The National Capital Region Police Office has mobilized a significant security force ahead of a planned transport sector strike beginning September 14. The deployment includes specialized units and drone operators tasked with monitoring the protest action.

Metro Manila authorities have positioned over 7,000 police personnel across the capital region in preparation for a strike by transport group Manibela scheduled to begin Monday, September 14. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) coordinated the deployment to maintain order and ensure public safety during the labor action.
The security operation incorporates multiple specialized units, including 11 drone operators assigned to conduct aerial surveillance of protest activities. Additional reactionary personnel have been stationed at key locations to respond to any incidents that may arise during the strike period.
The NCRPO's mobilization represents one of the largest police deployments for a labor action in the region in recent months. Officials said the extensive presence aims to balance the right to protest with the need to maintain traffic flow and general security throughout Metro Manila's major thoroughfares.
Transport sector strikes have historically caused significant disruptions to Metro Manila's commuter system. The police deployment is expected to remain in effect through September 15, the scheduled conclusion of the strike action.
