A composite team of law enforcement personnel destroyed an estimated P5.49 million worth of marijuana plants during an eradication operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Thursday, according to a statement released by the Police Regional Office on Saturday.
The operation targeted approximately 27,000 fully grown cannabis plants discovered in the mountainous terrain of Barangay Loccong and surrounding areas. Police and PDEA agents systematically uprooted the plants before burning them as part of ongoing anti-narcotics efforts in the region.
The eradication drive reflects intensified enforcement activities aimed at dismantling large-scale drug cultivation operations in remote mountainous provinces. Authorities continue to monitor the area for additional illicit plantations.
The Philippines has prioritized drug enforcement operations across its regions, with particular focus on agricultural areas where favorable climate and terrain enable clandestine crop cultivation.
