Law enforcement agencies have dismantled a sophisticated money laundering network used to channel proceeds from cybercrime operations across the country. The investigation uncovered 20 mule bank accounts connected to 54 separate fraud cases totalling approximately ₹10 crore in illicit transactions.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the operation, which authorities say functioned as a financial pipeline for cybercriminals. The network facilitated the rapid transfer and conversion of stolen funds, complicating recovery efforts and enabling perpetrators to evade detection.
A Chinese national has emerged as a central figure in the conspiracy, allegedly earning a four per cent commission on routed funds. Investigators believe the individual coordinated the movement of money through the mule accounts, leveraging international banking channels to obscure the trail of illicit transactions.
The bust represents a significant blow to organised cybercrime syndicates operating across South Asia. Authorities indicated the investigation continues, with officials examining financial records and digital communications to identify additional network members and trace stolen funds.
Police have urged banks and financial institutions to enhance scrutiny of unusual account activities and rapid fund transfers. Citizens reporting cybercrime incidents are encouraged to file complaints with local authorities or the national cyber crime reporting portal.
