Police dismantle major marijuana operation in Ilocos Sur
Authorities in the Philippines have destroyed thousands of cannabis plants following a coordinated raid in a disputed area of Ilocos Sur province. The operation netted both seedlings and mature plants with an estimated street value exceeding 200,000 pesos.

Police units in Ilocos Sur dismantled four clandestine marijuana plantations during an operation conducted Saturday in the Sugpon area, according to law enforcement officials. The 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, operating in coordination with other police units, discovered approximately 4,000 seedlings and 660 mature plants across the illegal growing sites.
The operation targeted a remote and disputed territory where authorities said the cultivation networks had been operating undetected. Police seized the plants as evidence and destroyed the growing infrastructure discovered at the locations.
The raid represents a significant blow to illegal drug production in the northern Luzon region. Ilocos Sur has emerged as a focal point for anti-narcotics operations in recent years, with authorities intensifying efforts to dismantle large-scale cultivation operations throughout the province.
The case has been referred to appropriate legal authorities for further investigation and prosecution. Police did not immediately disclose information regarding potential arrests or the identities of individuals allegedly responsible for operating the plantations.
