Police find no incriminating evidence in Adhikari house search, case dismissed

The Purba Medinipur police department has apprised the Calcutta High Court that a residential search connected to a suo motu first information report filed against Suvendu Adhikari, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, uncovered no incriminating items during the 2024 operation.

In their submission to the court, police indicated that the investigation into the matter found insufficient grounds to proceed further. The suo motu FIR, registered without a formal complaint from an individual, had prompted authorities to conduct the search as part of their inquiry.

Following the completion of the search and subsequent investigation, the case was disposed of with the court noting that it was not pressed by the investigating agency. The development marks the conclusion of legal proceedings initiated through the suo motu route against the senior opposition leader.

The case's dismissal comes after police determined that the evidence gathered during the search did not substantiate the allegations that had prompted the FIR. Adhikari, who represents Medinipur in the Lok Sabha, has previously faced various legal challenges during his political career.
