Police free child from hostage situation in Ilocos Sur

Police in Ilocos Sur successfully freed a child being held hostage in Barangay Daddaay, Alilem municipality, on Saturday, August 29. The Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (ISPPO) responded to the incident after receiving reports of the hostage situation.

The suspect, identified as a 37-year-old male, was found inside a residential structure together with the minor when officers arrived at the scene. According to the ISPPO, the man was believed to be suffering from a mental health condition at the time of the incident.

Police moved swiftly to secure the area and negotiate the release of the child. The minor was extracted safely from the situation without reported injuries. The suspect was taken into custody by authorities for further investigation and questioning.

The incident has prompted local police to conduct follow-up operations in the area as they continue their documentation and case buildup.
