Law enforcement authorities investigating Sri Lanka's organised crime sector have made significant progress in mapping financial flows between underworld operatives, with focus now centring on Mohamed Irfan Faiz, known by the alias 'Undiyal Rifan', who allegedly serves as a financial facilitator for multiple criminal figures.

The suspect is believed to have handled substantial money transfers and financial settlements for organised crime networks operating across the country. Investigators say the arrangement allowed various underworld figures to conduct transactions while maintaining operational security through an intermediary.

The Criminal Investigation Department and State Intelligence Service are currently examining two telephone recordings that allegedly capture conversations involving Rifan with multiple individuals under suspicion. These recordings are expected to form a critical component of the investigative file being assembled by authorities.

The identification of Rifan's financial role represents a significant breakthrough in understanding the organisational structure and operational methods of Sri Lanka's criminal networks. Authorities indicate the investigation is ongoing, with further developments anticipated as evidence analysis continues.
