Police intercept unlicensed firearm at Quezon checkpoint during Undas

LUCENA CITY — Police confiscated an unlicensed firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition from a motorcycle rider stopped at a checkpoint in Lopez, Quezon on Friday, the Police Regional Office-Calabarzon reported Saturday.

According to the report, officers manning an Undas security checkpoint in Barangay Bacungan flagged down a lone motorcycle rider for routine inspection. During the stop, authorities discovered the unlicensed firearm and ammunition in the rider's possession.

The seized weapon has been turned over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and processing. The motorcycle rider's identity and circumstances surrounding the discovery were not disclosed in the initial report.

The checkpoint operation was part of intensified security measures implemented during the Undas period, when increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic is typically seen as Filipinos visit cemeteries to pay respects to deceased relatives. Police have deployed additional personnel at various checkpoints across Calabarzon to ensure public safety and enforce firearm regulations.
