Police launch five investigations into Tabung Haji management

The Royal Malaysian Police have initiated five separate investigations into Tabung Haji following concerns about the fund's management and operations. Commercial Crime Investigation Department Director Rusdi Isa confirmed the multi-pronged probe, indicating the seriousness with which authorities are treating the matter.

To date, investigators have recorded statements from 127 individuals connected to the case. Rusdi indicated that the investigation team expects to call additional witnesses in the coming weeks as they gather evidence and build their case files.

The move represents a significant escalation in scrutiny of Tabung Haji, the state-owned pilgrimage savings fund that has faced mounting questions about its financial health and management practices. The fund serves millions of Malaysian Muslims who contribute to it as part of their hajj preparation.

The Commercial Crime Investigation Department, which handles complex financial crimes and fraud cases, is leading the inquiry. Officials have not disclosed the specific allegations being investigated, but the parallel investigations suggest authorities are examining multiple aspects of the fund's operations.
