A member of the Philippine National Police lost his left hand during a violent encounter with an armed suspect in San Jose, Camarines Sur on Saturday. Police Staff Sergeant Noli Miraña was attacked with a bolo by the assailant during the confrontation, resulting in the amputation of his limb.
According to Police Col. Tyrone Dotimas, director of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, Miraña and other officers from the San Jose Municipal Police were engaged in the operation when the attack occurred. Details regarding the circumstances leading to the clash remain under investigation.
The incident underscores ongoing security concerns in the Bicol region, where police operations have occasionally resulted in violent confrontations with armed individuals. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity or status of the suspect involved in the attack.
