TACLOBAN CITY — An officer from the Philippine National Police turned himself in to authorities after allegedly opening fire on a barangay councilor in Palapag, Northern Samar on Friday afternoon. The shooting occurred at 2:53 p.m., with the victim, a 50-year-old resident of Barangay Mapno, found deceased behind a waiting shed located across the barangay auditorium.
Investigators identified the suspect as a police officer, though further details regarding the officer's identity and rank remained under review. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately disclosed, and authorities have begun documenting the incident for further investigation.
