Police raid DMK minister's residence in school fraud probe

Law enforcement officials carried out a search operation at the home of Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, a minister in the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, in connection with allegations of large-scale financial fraud involving private school management bodies.
The Central Crime Branch had previously registered a case and arrested B.T. Arasakumar, who faced charges of fraudulently collecting approximately ₹100 crore from private school managements across the state. Investigators are examining the alleged links between those involved in the fund collection scheme and the minister's residence.
The search is part of a broader investigation into how substantial sums were extracted from educational institutions under the guise of various schemes or obligations. Police are reportedly examining financial records and documents to establish the extent of the alleged fraud and identify all parties involved in the operation.
The DMK government has not yet issued a statement regarding the investigation. The case adds to scrutiny of private educational institutions in Tamil Nadu, where concerns have been raised about financial management and governance practices in recent years.
