Police recover buffalo pair worth 13 lakh rupees after cross-border manhunt

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district have recovered two buffaloes valued at 13 lakh rupees that were stolen, after a sprawling investigation involving surveillance footage from more than 75 CCTV cameras across multiple locations.

Following the theft, law enforcement officers systematically reviewed camera recordings that eventually led them to Sambhal district, where both animals were recovered alive. The investigation resulted in the arrest of three suspects, including two individuals with criminal records.

Authorities filed charges under Section 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita during the course of the inquiry. The cross-district breakthrough demonstrates the increasing role of surveillance technology in solving livestock theft cases, a persistent problem in the region.
