COTABATO CITY — Police have arrested an alleged high-level drug peddler in Lanao del Sur following a buy-bust operation that yielded methamphetamine valued at P3.6 million, authorities said Friday.

The suspect was apprehended in Taraka town on Thursday during the controlled operation, according to Brig. Gen. Christopher Abecia, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR).

The arrest represents a significant breakthrough in the agency's ongoing crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in the region. The timing of the operation underscores intensified police efforts to dismantle large-scale drug distribution networks operating across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

The seized methamphetamine and the arrested suspect have been turned over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings. Police continue to pursue other suspected drug trafficking operations in the area.
