Police uncover honeytrap blackmail network in Uttar Pradesh

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district have dismantled an alleged honeytrap and blackmail operation following the suicide of Waltergunj police station chief Surya Prakash Singh. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the scheme: 32-year-old Priyanka Chaudhary, her father Ram Nayan Chaudhary, and lawyer Vijay Prakash Yadav.
According to police, the accused operated a coordinated extortion network. Chaudhary would establish intimate relationships with targets to obtain private photographs and videos. Once compromising material was secured, her father and the lawyer would allegedly use the content to blackmail victims for money.
The investigation has revealed the network targeted multiple individuals, extracting substantial sums through threats of exposing intimate content. Police have launched a broader investigation to identify additional victims and determine the full scope of the operation.
