DAVAO CITY—Political parties backing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have moved to consolidate control of the nascent legislature, announcing they have secured a majority ahead of parliament's maiden session.

Abdulraof Macacua, who holds the position of interim Chief Minister, disclosed that the coalition partnership has so far assembled 46 members from the 80-seat Bangsamoro Parliament. The announcement came during remarks to journalists in Davao City on Wednesday.

The coalition's 46-seat alignment represents a substantial majority in the regional assembly, ensuring the bloc can steer legislative priorities and executive appointments without relying on opposition support. The threshold provides a comfortable working majority for the governing coalition.

The formation of the parliamentary coalition marks a significant organizational step as the autonomous region prepares for its inaugural legislative session in the coming weeks. The timing reflects efforts to establish governing frameworks and institutional stability as the Bangsamoro government transitions from its interim phase toward permanent constitutional operations.
