Polling hours cut in remote tri-state border areas for MPTC/ZPTC elections

Officials overseeing Municipal and Zilla Parishad elections in Polavaram district have reduced polling hours in select constituencies along the tri-state borders, citing challenging terrain that complicates voter access and official movement. The decision reflects logistical constraints faced in remote and hilly areas where traditional polling schedules cannot be accommodated.

The adjustments come as election authorities work to ensure smooth conduct of the MPTC (Municipal Parishad Territorial Constituency) and ZPTC (Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency) elections across the Godavari region. Despite the geographical hurdles, preparations remain on track with adequate arrangements made for election materials and personnel deployment.

Continuous rainfall in the region has added to existing challenges in these border areas, which span portions of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha. Election officials have coordinated with local authorities to ensure that despite reduced polling hours, all eligible voters in these constituencies have adequate opportunity to exercise their franchise.

The Polavaram district administration has emphasized that modified schedules will not compromise the electoral process. Special measures have been put in place for affected constituencies to maintain transparency and accessibility while accounting for the practical difficulties of conducting elections in such terrain.
