Poor's welfare is true development measure, says Andhra CM

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious land distribution scheme, asserting that genuine development must be measured by improvements in the lives of the poorest citizens. Speaking at the 'Pedala Pattabhishekam' ceremony in Vijayawada, Naidu announced the distribution of land titles to nearly 60,000 poor beneficiaries across Visakhapatnam, Mangalagiri, and Vijayawada districts.

The distributed land parcels, valued collectively at approximately ₹52,000 crore, represent one of the state's largest property ownership initiatives targeting economically disadvantaged communities. Naidu characterized the programme as the 'coronation of the poor,' emphasizing its symbolic significance in empowering marginalized sections of society through tangible asset ownership.

During the event, the Chief Minister urged beneficiaries to preserve and maintain their newly acquired properties, stressing the importance of passing these assets to future generations. The initiative reflects the state government's commitment to bridging wealth gaps and providing foundational economic security to vulnerable populations through direct property ownership.

The scheme represents a substantial capital injection into grassroots economic development, with officials noting that property ownership can serve as collateral for loans and income-generating activities, thereby facilitating long-term economic mobility for beneficiary households.
