Portugal leaves door open for Ronaldo return, says coach Jesus

Portugal's national team coach Carlos Jesus indicated Wednesday that Cristiano Ronaldo remains welcome to return to the squad despite the football icon's recent exit from the group.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward departed the Portugal camp this week, but Jesus suggested the possibility of a future recall should the player wish to continue his international career.

Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of football's greatest players, has been a cornerstone of Portugal's national team for nearly two decades. His departure marks a significant moment for both the veteran forward and the Portuguese Football Federation as they navigate the transition period.

Jesus's comments indicate flexibility regarding Ronaldo's future involvement, leaving the door ajar for potential reconciliation if both parties determine it to be mutually beneficial. The statement suggests Portugal's coaching staff remains focused on maintaining relationships with senior players while managing squad composition.

The development comes at a critical juncture in Portugal's international football calendar, with the national team preparing for upcoming fixtures in their competitive schedule.
