Two separate vehicular accidents unfolded on the Azamgarh-Jaunpur highway within a span of several hours, both caused by a large pothole that has become a hazard on the stretch. The first incident occurred late Saturday night when a bus carrying religious pilgrims struck the deteriorated section of roadway and overturned into an adjacent ravine. Thirteen passengers sustained injuries in the accident and were taken for medical treatment.
In a recurring tragedy at the same location, a car fell into the identical pothole approximately 5:13 a.m. on Sunday morning, adding to the mounting toll of accidents on the troubled route. The back-to-back incidents underscore the dangers posed by inadequate road maintenance in the region.
Closed-circuit television cameras documented both accidents, providing evidence of the hazardous conditions that led to the collisions. The repeated nature of accidents at this specific location highlights concerns about road safety infrastructure and the need for urgent repairs on the Azamgarh-Jaunpur corridor.
