Power cuts disrupt NEET-PG exam at Jaipur centres; retest scheduled

The NEET-PG 2026 examination was disrupted at two centres in Jaipur on Thursday due to recurring power failures that affected candidate performance. Multiple test-takers reported that their computer systems shut down between six and seven times during the examination window, forcing them to lose continuity and productive time.

Candidates gathered outside the examination centres in Sitapura to lodge complaints about the technical disruptions. The repeated power cuts created significant disadvantage for those attempting the crucial postgraduate medical entrance examination, prompting authorities to take remedial action.

In response to the incident, examination officials have scheduled a retest for all affected candidates on September 5. This makeup examination will provide impacted test-takers an equal opportunity to complete their assessment under normal conditions.

The disruption highlights ongoing concerns about infrastructure stability at examination centres across India. Authorities have been directed to ensure adequate backup power systems and technical safeguards are in place for future high-stakes examinations to prevent similar incidents.
