MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Operations ground to a halt across Mabalacat City and portions of neighboring Magalang town Wednesday as an unscheduled power outage disrupted government and commercial activities throughout the region.
Pampanga Electric Cooperative II announced via social media that the outage stemmed from a failure on the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines network, with the blackout commencing at 11:37 a.m.
The disruption affected multiple sectors, forcing government offices and private establishments to suspend normal operations. Pelco II, the utility cooperative responsible for electricity distribution in the area, did not immediately specify the duration of the outage or its underlying cause beyond attributing it to the national grid operator's system.
