Pragyan Ojha named India's chief selector, Powar joins panel

Pragyan Ojha, the experienced left-arm spinner who represented India in multiple formats, has assumed the role of chief selector, succeeding Ajit Agarkar. The appointment comes as part of a restructuring of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's selection mechanism.

Ojha will lead a five-member selection committee responsible for picking India's men's cricket squads across Test, ODI, and T20 International formats. The committee's mandate encompasses all aspects of team selection, from bilateral series to major tournaments.

Former India women's cricket team head coach WV Raman, commonly known as Powar, has joined the selection committee as part of the new structure. Powar's inclusion brings significant experience in Indian cricket administration and player development.

The reconstituted committee reflects the Board's efforts to enhance the selection process with fresh perspectives and proven cricket expertise. Ojha's appointment underscores confidence in his understanding of modern-day cricket requirements across formats, drawing from his own international playing experience.
