Premier Energies opens ₹3,293 crore solar cell plant in Andhra Pradesh

Premier Energies has commissioned a state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh's Naidupeta region, marking a major expansion of India's renewable energy manufacturing base. The new plant, developed at a capital investment of ₹3,293 crore, incorporates TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) technology, a leading-edge solar cell manufacturing process.

The 7 GW facility bolsters Premier Energies' position in the solar manufacturing sector at a time when India is scaling up domestic production of solar components to reduce import dependence. The commissioning increases the company's aggregate solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW, positioning it among India's significant solar equipment producers.

The expansion reflects growing investor confidence in India's renewable energy infrastructure and government support for domestic solar manufacturing. TOPCon technology offers higher efficiency levels compared to conventional solar cells, making it increasingly preferred for utility-scale solar projects across the country and globally.

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a key hub for solar manufacturing in India, with multiple companies establishing production facilities in the state.
