President Murmu's reshuffle on Monday saw significant movement among India's top constitutional positions. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who served as Kerala's Governor, has been transferred to Tamil Nadu. Om Prakash Mathur, the incumbent Governor of Sikkim, will take over the Kerala post vacated by Arlekar.
The reshuffle also included fresh appointments to three states previously without designated governors. Dushyant Gautam has been named Governor of Sikkim, replacing Mathur. Senior BJP leader Braj Mohan Ram from Jharkhand will assume office as Odisha's Governor.
Two additional governors were appointed to complete the reshuffle. Sudha Yadav has been designated as Karnataka's Governor, while Dhal Singh Bisen will serve as Uttarakhand's Governor. A statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed all appointments, which will become effective upon each appointee's assumption of office.
The gubernatorial reshuffle is part of the constitutional process by which the President refreshes India's state leadership positions. The timing and scope of such reshuffles often reflect broader administrative and political considerations across the country's federal structure.
