Prince Philippos of Greece welcomes first child via surrogacy

Prince Philippos of Greece and Princess Nina have welcomed their first child, a son named Kimon Thomas Konstantinos, born via surrogate on July 27 in the United States. The announcement of the birth came several weeks after the infant's arrival.

The child's middle names carry significant family meaning. Thomas honours Nina's father, Thomas Flohr, while Konstantinos is a tribute to Philippos' late father, King Constantine II, who reigned as Greece's last monarch before the country's political transformations in the 1970s.

Prince Philippos, who is a godson of Princess Diana, married Princess Nina in a ceremony held in Athens in 2021. The couple's journey to parenthood through surrogacy marks a contemporary approach within European royal circles, reflecting evolving attitudes towards family-building methods among the continent's aristocratic families.
